Annamaria Annadomenica Ferri, a genuine inhabitant of Abruzzo, is a woman proud of living in this “Green region of Europe” and from the geographic position of the town where she lives, her eyes can rove from the mountains to the sea: from the snow-capped tops of Majella and Gran Sasso to the green area which wraps many towns, to the blue Adriatic Sea.
She was born in Moscufo, a quiet and hilly town, surrounded by the green olive trees, in the province of Pescara, it is the town of the best olive oil. Because of the premature loss of her mother, at the age of ten, she moved together with her father Ciccillo to Bucchianico, in the province of Chieti, where she still lives. Here she has welcomed and, like a tender little plant, which has taken root just at the right moment in the fertile ground, she has found her ideal milieu quickly.
She has appreciated the qualities of the inhabitants of this town which is the birthplace of Great Saint Camillo the Lellis: generosity, loyalty, kindness, pleasantness, hospitality. Bearing these valours in mind, she has grown and lives in this healthy milieu and she wants to communicate it to the other ones, and she invites everyone to take all the lovely aspects of people and to let them notice because, perhaps, nice news “doesn’t wake much rumour”! Therefore Annamaria stayed in this town even when at the age of twenty her father died.
She got married and had got four sons! She worked as an enthusiastic postman, understanding and helpful with everyone, becoming very popular with them.
She has sometimes performed, during the local festivities, reciting some poems, which have been written by her in dialect, on purpose for these events, earning pleasantness and admiration from local people. Translation by Arianna Sbaraglia
